Breast lift candidates are interested in restoring perky breasts. As a result of aging, pregnancy, weight loss, or genetics, you may have breasts that sag. This procedure lifts the position of the breasts and restores their shape.
Some of the signs that you may be a good candidate include:
- Sagging breasts
- Breasts you may describe as elongated, deflated, pendulous, or drooping
- Nipples have fallen below the breast crease
- The nipples point downward
- Areolas are stretched out
- Your breasts have flattened out
- Breasts seem to hang too low on the chest
Mastopexy is just one of a few breast procedures performed by Dr. Sean Bidic and Dr. Vinay Gundlapalli. During a consultation, we’ll listen to what you would like to change and how you would like your breasts to look. Along with an assessment of the breast tissue, the plastic surgeon will make a recommendation for the breast surgery that will achieve your goals.
While mastopexy lifts sagging breasts, a breast augmentation enlarges breasts, and breast reduction decreases the size of breasts. All of these procedures can also improve the symmetry of your breasts and their overall shape.
The breast lift does not increase the size of your breasts. In fact, many women find they can size down their bra cups after the procedure because the bra no longer has to fit over all of the excess skin. The shape and position of the breasts, however, will be greatly improved. If you also want large breasts, it is possible to combine the lift procedure with the placement of breast implants.
Other aspects of good candidacy include:
- You don’t smoke
- You are at or near your target body weight
- You are in generally good health
- You are doing it for yourself and not to please someone else or fit someone else’s expectations
