If you’re versed in the aesthetic world, you no doubt know about microneedling. This popular treatment puts the skin’s healing mechanisms to use, improving skin quality through hundreds of tiny punctures. You may have also heard of radiofrequency energy being used to tighten the skin and stimulate collagen production.

But what if you combined microneedling with deeply delivered radiofrequency energy? You’d have Morpheus8.

Morpheus8 is part of three treatments developed by InMode Aesthetics, along with BodyTite and FaceTite. We offer all three in our MedSpa at American Surgical Arts. Our board-certified plastic surgeons lead our highly skilled Physician Assistants, who bring advanced training in injectables, skin health, and surgical care. With their expertise and the oversight of our surgeons, you can expect the highest quality care in Mullica Hill, New Jersey.

What Is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 combines two popular non-invasive aesthetic treatments, microneedling and radiofrequency energy delivery, all for the benefit of your skin.

It does so by delivering the RF energy when the microneedling pins are at their full depth. This means the RF energy doesn’t have to work to penetrate the outer epidermis. The pins allow the energy to be delivered directly into the dermis, where it triggers increased collagen production.

Morpheus8 provides the superficial skin improvements of microneedling with the deep tissue collagen boost of radiofrequency energy.

Who Is a Candidate for Morpheus8 Treatments?

If you have loose or sagging skin on your face, neck, or body, Morpheus8 is a good treatment to tighten these areas up.

Both men and women with sun-damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, and overall dull skin are great candidates for these treatments at our MedSpa in American Surgical Arts. These are not invasive treatments with only minimal recovery, so there aren’t any limitations.

If you have an active skin condition, such as eczema, you should wait for the flare-up to resolve before your Morpheus8 session.

What Are the Benefits of Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 benefits include that it:

  • Is safe for all skin types, unlike many laser procedures
  • Is minimally invasive with little, if any, downtime
  • Improves skin elasticity and firmness
  • Can significantly improve cystic acne and scars
  • Helps to decrease large pores
  • Improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles

What Areas Can Be Treated With Morpheus8?

At American Surgical Arts, we like the adjustability of Morpheus8. The microneedle penetration can be adjusted all the way up to 4mm of depth. This allows us to use Morpheus8 on areas with thin skin, such as the forehead, by simply shortening the needle penetration. The extra depth is great for areas of thicker skin, such as the cheeks.

Morpheus8 can be used just about anywhere on the face, neck, and body. We use Morpheus8 on areas you can't treat with laser energy, such as the delicate tissues around the mouth and the upper and lower eyelids.

Here are specific areas we treat at American Surgical Arts:

  • Entire face
  • Neck
  • Décolletage
  • Arms
  • Abdomen
  • Areas with stretch marks
  • Post-surgical scars
  • Banana roll under the buttocks
  • Knees

What Kinds of Skin Issues Can Morpheus8 Improve?

These treatments improve various skin problems:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Dull tissue
  • Large pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Acne scars
  • Active acne
  • Skin laxity
  • Stretch marks

Why Choose American Surgical Arts for Morpheus8

Jen complements this expertise with her experience in surgical dermatology and skin cancer management, giving her a deep understanding of the skin’s structure.

Working closely with our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Sean Bidic and Dr. Vinay Gundlapalli, Regina and Jen ensure that every Morpheus8 session is personalized to your skin type, needs, and goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I Have Recovery and Downtime After a Morpheus8 Treatment?

After your Morpheus8 session, your skin will be red, and you’ll likely have some mild swelling. As a response to the microneedling, your skin in the treated areas will feel tight and may be a little shiny for three to five days.

At the sites of the hundreds of microscopic punctures, you may have small, flaky scabs and some light peeling skin. Moisturizing your skin will help with this.

You will need to protect your skin with 30+ SPF sunscreen and try to avoid the sun for a couple of weeks, as it will be susceptible to UV radiation. Patients can usually return to work the next day, but you may want to schedule your session in the afternoon to give your skin the evening to calm down a bit.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

We recommend one to four Morpheus8 treatments for our New Jersey patients, depending upon your goals. Each Morpheus8 treatment should be spaced three to five weeks apart. This allows your skin to fully heal and the collagen to take hold.

After your series, occasional maintenance treatments will keep your collagen production at an elevated level.

When Will I See My Results From Morpheus8 Treatment?

Our patients love that Morpheus8 provides two levels of results. The microneedling provides superficial skin improvement, breaking down areas with poor texture and hyperpigmentation. These improvements begin almost immediately and continue to get better.

Then, the Morpheus8’s radiofrequency energy creates results that build over the course of weeks and months. These results stem from the body’s natural “wound healing” response, where it ramps up production of new collagen and elastin.

These results begin to show themselves in three or four weeks and continue for up to one year.

How Long Does a Typical Morpheus8 Session Take?

Most Morpheus8 sessions take about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area and whether multiple areas are being addressed in one visit.

Can Morpheus8 Be Combined With Other Treatments Like Fillers or Botox?

Yes. Many patients choose to combine Morpheus8 with injectables such as Botox or dermal fillers for more comprehensive results. These treatments can be done in a coordinated plan, either during the same visit or spaced apart, depending on your goals and the provider’s recommendation.

How Soon Can I Wear Makeup After a Morpheus8 Treatment?

You can typically apply makeup 24 to 48 hours after treatment once the initial redness and pinpoint marks begin to subside. Your provider will give you specific guidance based on how your skin responds.

Will I Need to Change My Skincare Routine After a Morpheus8 Treatment?

Your provider may recommend temporarily simplifying your skincare routine while your skin heals. Gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and daily sunscreen are important.

You should avoid harsh exfoliants, retinoids, or active ingredients for about one week, or until your provider confirms it is safe to resume them.
