If you’re familiar with cosmetic treatments, you’ve likely heard of microneedling. This technique creates tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin to activate its natural repair process and improve overall texture. You may also know that radiofrequency energy can help firm the skin and support collagen renewal.
Morpheus8 brings these two approaches together, combining microneedling with targeted radiofrequency energy delivered beneath the surface for enhanced skin tightening and rejuvenation.
Morpheus8 is part of three treatments developed by InMode Aesthetics, along with BodyTite and FaceTite. We offer all three in our MedSpa at American Surgical Arts. Our board-certified plastic surgeons lead our highly skilled Physician Assistants, who bring advanced training in injectables, skin health, and surgical care. With their expertise and the oversight of our surgeons, you can expect the highest quality care in Mullica Hill, New Jersey.
What Is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a nonsurgical treatment that blends microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to improve skin tone and firmness. By pairing these two technologies, it targets both surface texture and deeper structural support.
During treatment, tiny needles create controlled microchannels in the skin while simultaneously delivering RF energy at a set depth. Because the energy is released beneath the surface, it bypasses the outer layer and reaches the dermis directly, where it stimulates collagen production.
The result is smoother-looking skin on the surface, along with gradual tightening and strengthening in the deeper layers.
Who Is a Candidate for Morpheus8 Treatments?
Morpheus8 may be a good option if you’re noticing mild to moderate skin laxity on the face, neck, or body and want a nonsurgical way to firm and smooth those areas. It’s also well-suited for concerns such as sun damage, uneven pigmentation, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scarring, and dull texture.
Because the treatment is minimally invasive and involves limited downtime, many healthy adults qualify. That said, if you’re experiencing an active skin issue like eczema, a rash, or an infection in the treatment area, it’s best to wait until your skin has fully cleared before scheduling your session.
What Are the Benefits of Morpheus8?
Morpheus8:
- Is safe for all skin types, unlike many laser procedures
- Is minimally invasive with little, if any, downtime
- Improves skin elasticity and firmness
- Can significantly improve cystic acne and scars
- Helps to decrease large pores
- Improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles
What Areas Can Be Treated With Morpheus8?
One of the advantages of Morpheus8 is its customizable depth settings. The microneedles can reach up to 4mm beneath the skin, allowing treatment to be tailored to different areas of the face and body.
For thinner skin, such as the forehead, the needle depth can be reduced to keep the treatment controlled and appropriate. In areas with thicker skin, like the cheeks, greater depth can be used to target deeper layers and support collagen remodeling where it’s needed most.
Morpheus8 can be used just about anywhere on the face, neck, and body. We use Morpheus8 on areas you can't treat with laser energy, such as the delicate tissues around the mouth and the upper and lower eyelids.
Here are specific areas we treat at American Surgical Arts:
- Entire face
- Neck
- Décolletage
- Arms
- Abdomen
- Areas with stretch marks
- Post-surgical scars
- Banana roll under the buttocks

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I Have Recovery and Downtime After a Morpheus8 Treatment?
It’s normal to experience some redness and mild swelling after your Morpheus8 appointment. The treated areas may feel tight and look slightly shiny for several days as your skin begins its repair process.
Because the treatment creates tiny micro-injuries in the skin, you may notice light flaking or small pinpoint scabs as those areas heal. Keeping your skin gently moisturized can make this phase more comfortable.
Daily sun protection is essential while your skin recovers. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and limit direct sun exposure for a couple of weeks. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work the next day, though scheduling your session later in the day can give your skin time to settle before social plans.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
We recommend one to four Morpheus8 treatments for our New Jersey patients, depending upon your goals. Each Morpheus8 treatment should be spaced three to five weeks apart. This allows your skin to fully heal and the collagen to take hold.
Once your initial series is complete, periodic maintenance treatments can help support ongoing collagen production and maintain your results.
When Will I See My Results From Morpheus8 Treatment?
Our patients love that Morpheus8 provides two levels of results. The microneedling provides superficial skin improvement, breaking down areas with poor texture and hyperpigmentation. These improvements begin almost immediately and continue to get better.
Then, the Morpheus8’s radiofrequency energy creates results that build over the course of weeks and months. These results stem from the body’s natural “wound healing” response, where it ramps up production of new collagen and elastin.
These results begin to show themselves in three or four weeks and continue for up to one year.
How Long Does a Typical Morpheus8 Session Take?
Most Morpheus8 sessions take about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area and whether multiple areas are being addressed in one visit.
Can Morpheus8 Be Combined With Other Treatments Like Fillers or Botox?
Yes. Many patients choose to combine Morpheus8 with injectables such as Botox or dermal fillers for more comprehensive results. These treatments can be done in a coordinated plan, either during the same visit or spaced apart, depending on your goals and the provider’s recommendation.
How Soon Can I Wear Makeup After a Morpheus8 Treatment?
You can typically apply makeup 24 to 48 hours after treatment once the initial redness and pinpoint marks begin to subside. Your provider will give you specific guidance based on how your skin responds.
Will I Need to Change My Skincare Routine After a Morpheus8 Treatment?
Your provider may recommend temporarily simplifying your skincare routine while your skin heals. Gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and daily sunscreen are important.
You should avoid harsh exfoliants, retinoids, or active ingredients for about one week, or until your provider confirms it is safe to resume them.
How Long Do Morpheus8 Results Last?
Results can last a year or longer, depending on your age, skin condition, and how well you maintain your skin. Because Morpheus8 stimulates your own collagen production, improvements continue to develop over time. Periodic maintenance treatments can help extend your results.
Is Morpheus8 Safe for Darker Skin Tones?
Yes. Morpheus8 is considered safe for all skin tones because the radiofrequency energy is delivered beneath the surface rather than targeting pigment at the top layer of the skin. This reduces the risk of pigmentation changes compared to many traditional lasers.
Are There Any Risks or Side Effects With Morpheus8?
Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, mild bruising, and light flaking as the skin heals. Rarely, patients may experience prolonged irritation or pigment changes. Choosing an experienced provider helps minimize risks and ensures proper treatment settings for your skin type.
